There is a debate among experts concerning the type of coral calcium to consume -- underwater marine coral sand or above water fossilized coral from Okinawa, Japan. Both forms have their pros and cons. The main problem with underwater marine coral is the lead content and heating factor. Underwater marine coral is sucked up from the bottom of the ocean along with lead and other contaminates and then has to be heat treated to 1000 degrees which kills or transforms some of the essential minerals including calcium. Later, they add magnesium to it to claim a 2:1 ratio of calcium to magnesium. Also, it has the potential to disrupt the ecological system already in place. Fossilized Coral (above ground) has not been heat-treated. It has been taken in its natural state, crushed into a fine powder (nothing added), and consumed.
