One to two lozenges daily are suggested for healthy people.  More can be taken when under stress.  One 23 mg zinc lozenge can be dissolved on the tongue every couple of hours during treatment.

Caution:  Supplemental zinc can inhibit the absorption and availability of copper.  If more than 50 mg of supplemental zinc is taken daily, 2 mg of supplemental copper should also be taken to prevent deficiency.   Chronic intake of zinc over 100 mg a day could produce toxicity, so do not take high doses of zinc for more than a week.  As a dietary supplement, you should take no more than three to four zinc capsules or lozenges a day since you may be obtaining zinc from other supplements you take.
