Planetary Formula's Kudzu Recovery features the
roots and flowers of the kudzu plant (Pueraria lobata), which have long been used
in Chinese herbalism to help lessen the desire for alcohol. These are combined
with coptis, a primary cleansing and liver-supporting herb from Chinese
herbalism, and other key botanicals to support balanced blood sugar levels and
enhance energy levels.
Kudzu and Silymarin
After alcohol is absorbed in the gut, it is rapidly metabolized to
acetaldehyde. Here is where the herbs kudzu and silymarin can play key
protective roles. Diadzein and genistein, the active ingredients in kudzu,
inhibit the liver enzyme ADH required for conversion of ethanol to
acetaldehyde.

Note: An additional
consideration is to use kudzu
and d,l phenylalanine in association
with l-glutamine for lessening the desire
for alcohol and carbohydrates. Lithium
orotate also shows promise in this arena along with n-acetyl
l-cysteine
(NAC) for and/or other behavior support.
There seems to be a synergistic relationship with all of these
combined compared to any one single nutrient alone.
In addition, activated
charcoal/bentonite clay is the preferred choice for
detoxification of toxic substances and other poisons that can
build-up in our bodies.
