Hoodia Gordonii CITES Permit

CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).  International agreement that ensures specimens of animals and plants (wild) does not threaten their survival in international trade between governments.  There are various sections of the agreement that includes species not threatened with extinction.  Trade must be controlled to avoid extinction.  Hoodia Gordonii was included in the CITES organization in 2004 in a conference in Bangkok.  This ensures that all farming operations and trade of the Hoodia Gordonii plant material are controlled at an international level within the range states (Botswana, South Africa, and Namibia).
