Calcium Citrate with Vitamin D-3 Supplements
1000 mg, 300 capsules. 1000 mg is the weight of the capsule -- not the amount of calcium per capsule -- see below.

Calcium is a major essential mineral supplement that is often associated with deficiency, inefficiently absorbed, or excreted faster than it is being assimilated. The citrate salt of calcium has been documented to be well absorbed and utilized by the body for benefits. Adequate levels of calcium are essential to your health. In addition, and for your information, Vitamin D 3 is included to help prevent a deficiency and provide benefits.

Why we may not be getting enough calcium
The problem with commercial calcium preparations is that a lot of pills are required to be swallowed in order to get the recommended 1000 to 2000 mg of elemental calcium per day. The greatest area of confusion is with the labeling. In looking at the below Supplement Facts, a capsule that contains 1000 mg of calcium citrate provides only 220 mg of elemental calcium.

Some people mistakenly take just one or two capsules a day because the bottle may say "Calcium Citrate 1000 mg." An examination of the label, however, will reveal that the amount of actual calcium per capsule is considerably less.

Some calcium pills may not break down in the digestive tract unless it has passed the dissolution test. The dissolution test shows pills breaking apart in water in 30-45 minutes.

Vitamin D3	actual (elemental) amount per cap - 100 IU
Calcium (as calcium citrate)	actual (elemental) amount per cap - 220 mg
Other ingredients: magnesium stearate, gelatin, and water.

Dosage, Deficiency, Information, and Use:

1000-2000 mg of elemental calcium daily are recommended -- preferably most in the PM after your last meal,
Check the calcium content of other supplements you may be using and estimate the amount of calcium you may be receiving in your diet to determine how many capsules you need,
If you are eating a low calcium diet and not getting calcium from other supplements, you should consider taking 5-7 capsules daily,
This product is most effectively utilized when taken with low fiber meals for the best benefits,
Calcium citrate may be best taken at night on an empty stomach to prevent deficiency,
Total intake of calcium greater than 2000 mg elemental per day provides no added benefit.

Caution: Over 2 grams (2000 mg) per day of elemental calcium from supplements are not recommended. Calcium supplements should always be combined with half as much magnesium to maintain a natural balance of these minerals. Large doses of vitamin D 3 (1400 to 2000 IU/day) may cause a situation called hypercalcemia -- a condition your Doctor should be informed about. Monthly blood tests to monitor serum calcium and parathyroid hormone levels should be done to protect against vitamin D 3 toxicity when high doses are consumed on a regular basis. Although some research indicates that up to 10,000 IU/day are safe, healthy people should stay below 1500-2000 IU/day.
